Party Games
Upside down and back to front party
This is a simple way to make your party a little bit different. Firstly if you are sending invitations out to the party write all the invites names backwards so John becomes nhoj. To decorate the house hang air filled balloons down from the ceiling so that they hang the wrong way up. If you are using streamers and banners put them close to the floor and upside down. A nice touch is an upside down exit sign over the front door. To greet your guests thank them for coming to the party and that you hope that they had a nice time. Be careful some may take this the wrong way and think that they are late. There are plenty of games to play and one of the all time favourites works well but instead of pinning the tail on the donkey you have to pin the donkey on the tail. If you are going to be serving food please remember to serve your desert first. Once the party is over remember to greet all your gusts on the way our and hope that they will have a good time.

Balloon Games
Balloon Stuff Game
Teams are made by dividing the party guests (more than two teams will work OK). Each team is handed a few bags of balloons and a large shirt. Each team chooses a person in their group to put on the shirt, the rest of the team will be blowing up the balloons. When all the teams are ready each team begins to blow up the balloons and the designated person, volunteer or indeed victim pulls on the large shirt. When the person is "dressed", team-mates begin to stuff the inflated balloons in the shirt as fast as they can, with luck some balloons will pop. After a predetermined period of time has expired, everyone must stop stuffing balloons in the shirt. The winning team is the one that has the most balloons stuffed into their "volunteer's" clothing. No need to pull the balloons out from underneath the clothing...you simply use a long hat pin to pop each one while everyone counts.
(One warning, the volunteer should have clothing that covers most of their skin because when the balloons are popped it can sting bare skin). If younger children are playing this game you may want to blow up the balloons for them.
Balloon Stomping Game
Tie balloons to your ankles an stomp on each other's balloons and try to pop them. A lot of movement may be required. 6 or more players can play. You'll need rubber bands and balloons. Blow up a lot of balloons and tie a rubber band to each of them. Put a balloon around each player's ankle by stretching the rubber over their foot. If you want you can put a balloon on each ankle. Make sure player's wear shoes to protect their feet. Play some music and have everyone stomp around, trying step on and pop other player's balloons. Whoever has the last balloon left around their ankle is the winner!
Balloon Simon Says - Kids Game
Teams should be of 4 to 5 people and let them know they are going to be bouncing a balloon back and forth. Sounds easy enough! Then tell them that the balloon must always be hit from the bottom and always be hit upwards. If you let the balloon hit the ground the person whose turn it was is out, if the person hits the balloon with the wrong body part they are out. This game is played in rounds, so once a group's balloon hits the ground, they stop until all the groups have finished.
Ok - The fun part as they play this game - One person (adult) calls out the body part by which the next person must the balloon with: Examples: Hands, feet and knee are easy ones, but elbow, head, and hips/butt make the game harder. Take the winners of the first round and have them play off or continue until there is a one winner. Silly but fun.
Balloons and Beads - Kids Game
Fill the balloons with whatever amount of beads or sweets, try to divide up evenly. Hide the filled balloons around the house or outside (works best outside). Get in groups of two each and tie one set of hands and one set of feet together with rope. Then send the groups off the find the balloons. They have to pop the balloons by themselves (using their hands!) and whoever has the most beads or sweets in the end wins the game.
Grab the Balloons Game
Blow up 15 - 20 balloons, place them on the floor. Each person has a limited amount of time (I used 2 minutes) to pick up and hold as many balloons as possible. Each person takes a turn, whoever held the most balloons at the end of their time wins. You can only hold so many in your hands, so up your shirt, between your legs, under your arms, even in your teeth. No one can help them pick up balloons, that way, when they have them between their legs, or under their arms, when they walk or bend to pick up more balloons, they lose the ones they already have.
Kids Games
If you are planning a party and want to keep the kids busy so the party goes smoothly and doesn't turn into a wild free-for-all, try this. Begin with a quiet game, then play an active game or two, then calm the group down again with a last quiet game. Here are suggestions for both.
“Mummy Madness” Active Game
Divide the kids into pairs, with one the Mummy and the other the Mummy Wrapper. Give each wrapper a roll of toilet paper or crepe paper streamer. On the word "Go!" have the wrappers race to see who can wrap up their mummy first. The game is tricky because the faster they try to wrap, the more the tissue will tear, causing them to keep restarting!
“Balloon Bounce” Active Game
Have a contest to see who can keep the balloon in the air the longest using only their head. The person who can keep it in the air longest without using anything but their head is the winner. (This game can also be played in teams).
“Swap it” Quiet Game
Divide the kids into two teams and take Team A into another room. Team A must switch various items of clothing or accessories with one another, then return to the game room. Team B must try to guess all the switches that have been made within a five-minute time period. Add up how many items Team B guessed correctly. Then let Team B have a turn to "switch" and let Team A guess the switches. The team with the most correct answers in the allotted time period wins a prize.
“Fishing” Active Game
Divide Tie a string across the room and lay a sheet over it so no one can see what is on the other side. Tie string around a stick or broom handle long enough to reach over the sheet. Tie a clothespeg on the end of the pole's string. Let each guest take a turn "casting" their line over the sheet. Have your helper stand on the other side and attach small gifts, favors, or treats to the clothespeg. When they're done, the helper gives a slight tug on the line. When the kids "reel" in their lines, they'll be delighted to see what they've caught! prize.
